BUSINESS ENGAGEMENT IN UN80 REFORM: MAKING THE UN More efficient, Effective and READY FOR THE LONG HAUL

Business Pact for the Future Roundtable Series
The USCIB Foundation launched the Business Pact for the Future in 2024 as a two-year initiative to accelerate outcomes of the United Nations Summit of the Future (SOTF). This resulted in the development of the Business Pact and progress towards private sector involvement in UN80 reform.

Faced with significant geopolitical and economic dynamics, the UN is reshaping itself to be fit for purpose for today’s challenges and for decades ahead. Every aspect of the UN System is under review – from its most fundamental elements, including the three pillars of the UN Charter – to the practical, such as its mandates, resources and priorities of UN agencies.

In 2026, The USCIB Foundation’s Business Pact for the Future initiative turns its attention to the UN80 reform’s dimensions of direct relevance to business:

Policy areas that bring new expectations for business and private sector engagement such as emerging technologies and development collaboration

Resource mobilization and enabling framework needs of finance, investment, and job creation

The very subject of business access and engagement in the UN system

The Business Pact for the Future will convene a new series of expert roundtables in UN headquarter cities with key decisionmakers as they design the new structures that will benefit most from private sector involvement.

Throughout these roundtables, the Business Pact for the Future initiatives will offer insights into how this far-reaching evolution presents opportunities to strengthen this central institution by deepening collaboration with the private sector.
